daenw:

If you think Dean was actually into the kiss that he and Amara shared, you missed the entire scene, specifically what Amara said right before kissing him.

Everyone fucking acts like everything Dean does are his own choices thus the consequences are his own fault. But this “bond” that Amara and Dean share is one sided. She controls him. She’s “manipulating” Dean the same way that Lucifer tried to manipulate Sam (this season and season 5). Except Dean is far more easily manipulated. He can’t fucking say no to Amara. He literally can’t, and she told him as mush. He wants to protect her because of whatever it is that the mark formed between them. there was a parallel between Lucifer/Sam and Amara/Dean in this episode and ya’ll fucking missed it because you’re too busy crying over Dean like he had any choice in that kiss. He said no. And she took it from him anyway.

Everyone acts like Dean only thinks with his fucking downstairs brain or only shoots first and asks questions later. He attempted to kill her before that kiss and it didn’t work. You’re all so focused on the kiss and the “romance” that you are completely missing the entire point of the scene. You’re supposed to be yelling about how wrong it is. You aren’t supposed to like it. No one likes it. Even Dean doesn’t like it. But everyone is so wrapped up in how it ruins a ship, or how she looked young a few episodes ago (which is a whole different matter but that’s not the point of this post), or how unnecessary the romance is to realize there is no romance. Amara came onto the scene as complete chao. That’s what she is. She’s the embodiment of chaos and darkness and ultimate freedom. She’s lawlessness and “i’m going to take what i want when i want it no matter the consequences.” This isn’t about romance at all. She just wants. And she takes what she wants.

No one ever talks about the kind of assault that Dean’s endured. The kind of violation he probably suffered under Alistair, the sex under false pretenses with the amazon Lydia (a monster who only wanted to have sex with him for the soul purpose of killing him). And who the fuck knows all the things that happened to him preseries that we can only speculate about. But nobody fucking gets upset over unreciprocated advances made at Dean. Somehow they get turned into Dean’s own fault because Dean is promiscuous and gluttonous and isn’t “the smart one.” People act like Dean’s always at fault for things he has no control over (the apocalypse), for things he has no decision in or any participation in whatsoever (setting the darkness free), for making decisions when not being given all the information (taking on the mark and thus becoming a demon), for making rash decisions under life or death circumstances, all the while being lied to (letting gadreel possess sam, causing kevin to be killed), for doing things while under the influence of a demonic presence (entire MoC arc basically)… He even gets blamed for the consequences of things he asks people specifically not to do (charlie’s death after he tells sam a hundred times to not use the book of the damned). The list goes on and on and it fucking kills me because  Dean is constantly the one left standing in the rubble, a victim even though he’s still alive, left to suffer life in the destruction, and he becomes a scapegoat for things he has no control over.

Stop blaming Dean for the things he can’t change. Stop blaming Dean for having his agency taken away. Stop acting like Dean is at fault for everything because your faves can do no wrong so you need someone to hate. Dean can be a crappy person sometimes and he’s done some shady shit but stop acting like he’s the scum of the earth when he’s being used and sexually assaulted like he had some say in the fucking matter and then conveniently act like it never happened while you cry about how bad your faves have it.
